How to Dry Hydrangeas and Keep their Color

If you are wondering how to dry hydrangeas and keep their color, you may be delighted that there are in fact solutions to your problems.

Watch here how to successfully dry your hydrangeas, so they do not lose color.

It’s basically about hitting the right moment to harvest the flowers. Right now, when they have exactly the most beautiful color. You know?

I like when the color of the flowers fade lightly in late summer, it provides just the right vintage look, I think. If you like them a little brighter in color, then you need to cut them a little earlier in the summer.

  1. Once you have cut the flowers, you strip the leaves of the stems and put the flowers in water.
  2. Keep the flowers in the water until they are completely dry, you can then take them up and cut the bottom of the stem, if it has become a little messy. In this way you dry the Hydrangeas, while they retain their beautiful color.

Do not leave the flowers on the plant for too long during the fall.  They lose the colour over time and turn brown.
And if you pick them up and hang them to dry, you also risk loosing color

And the good news is, that you can enjoy them in your living room, while they stand there drying up so fine ( ;

Have fun drying these beauties!
